Serie A Team Of The Season Featuring Former Arsenal Star & 4 Each From Juventus & Roma

Share

As another season of Serie A comes to end, with Juventus winning a 3rd title, AS Roma breaking all their personal records & The Milanese clubs fighting for Europa League spots! Our writer Haytham Mohamed this time picks the team of the season!

Gigi Buffon (Juventus): Played a vital part in this year “Campionato”, there were games he single handedly won, Juventus fans will certainly remember the Milan game at the Meazza & the Genoa match at the “Luigi Ferraris”. As wine, the older the better Buffon is.

Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus): You can call him vicious, dirty or above Prandelli’s code of ethics even, but you can’t deny that he remains the best “Italian” defender right now. Always handed the task of marking the opponent’s danger man, no matter what methods he uses, he emerges victorious!

Mehdi Ben Atia (AS Roma): This season’s best defender in the league, no wonder half of Europe’s elite are after his signature. Has great tactical awareness & good ball skills, not to mention his attacking abilities that he demonstrated with five goals.

Leandro Castan (AS Roma): The other half of the Romans defense maybe isn’t as skilled as Ben Atia, but the soul & grit he has can’t be matched! Very strong with tackles & one on one situations and the partnership he created with the Moroccan is one of the best across Europe right now.

Daniele De Rossi (AS Roma): One of the main reasons behind Roma’s record breaking season is De Rossi having an excellent one himself. Played a pivotal role in Garcia’s formation both in the attacking & defensive level with his tactical & athletic abilities. Irreplaceable.

Paul Pogba (Juventus): The Young Frenchman exploded this term literally, turning from a promising young talent into one of the best midfielders in the whole world with his dominant game & powerful shots, making fan favorite Marchisio just play a sub role for him all season long! A star in the rising.

Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina): A player that was almost present in the “team of the week” all season long! Wherever Montella deployed him, he impressed. When in his day, he’s literally unstoppable. Another real star in the making.

Gervinho (AS Roma): Who thought that Gervinho would be on this team at the start of the season! But Rudi Garcia silenced all his critics when he brought his favorite winger from Arsenal. His pace & nonstop attitude won games for Roma alone this term, turning him into a fan favorite for the Romanisti, which is quite an achievement itself!

Rodrigo Palacio (Inter): If not for Palacio, one has to wonder how Inter season would had been like?! Scored 17 goals, all of them from open play & sometimes he even played as a sole striker upfront, showing what a fine striker he is.

Carlos Tevez (Juventus): Quickly adapted to Italian Football, and gave Juventus the striker they missed much last year, scoring 20 goals & playing a vital part in the 3rd consecutive Scudetto. It’s a shame he isn’t part of Argentina’s World Cup squad.

Ciro Immobile (Torino): The young Italian formed a deadly partnership with Cerci that made the “Toro” faithful see their team battle for European places. An excellent finisher & dribbler, no wonder he’s top of the Scoring charts with 21 goals.

Honorable mentions: Luca Toni, Romulo & Juan Iturbe (Verona), Kevin Strootman (AS Roma), Antonio Candreva (Lazio), Alessio Cerci (Torino), Jose Callejon (Napoli), Giussepe Rossi (Fiorentina)& Mattia Perin (Genoa).
