Scouting For Manchester United: 3 Non-Marquee Signings United Should Do In Summer

Share

Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and it is no surprise that they get linked with some of the biggest names in the world. Neymar was just one player who was linked with a move to the record Premier League champions but paying over the top for a player that may or may not work doesn’t really sound like a good deal for anyone.

The Premier League might be the richest league in the world but sometimes you need to find that Riyad Mahrez or Jamie Vardy rather than try for an Andrei Shevchenko or an Angel Di Maria. Manchester United do need to sign a few players and we look at some of the players who might not be the marquee names, but will surely provide the club with the quality they need.

These players might not be linked with the club all that frequently but they are some of the best players in their leagues and well, they certainly will make United much better next season.

  1. Adrien Rabiot

The 20-year-old is one of the rising stars in Ligue 1 but has been linked with a move away from PSG for quite a while. The French central midfielder could well be on his way out of the club this transfer window and Manchester United should look to snap him up.

He can play a little up the field as well but his best position is in the middle of the park where he can control the game.  Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Carrick aren’t getting any younger and moving for the midfielder from France could well plug the hole that Paul Pogba left them a while back.

2. Granit Xhaka

Another option that the club could look at when it comes to fixing their midfield is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Granit Xhaka. The Swiss midfielder is one of the best box-to-box players in the world and it is a bit of a surprise that no one has tried to get him from the Bundesliga side.

Xhaka is only 23-years-old and would be a great addition to any team. Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Swiss midfielder but United should try to sign him up, he would provide them with a young, energetic and robust style of play for years to come and will surely get better as he grows at the club.

3. Lorenzo Insigne

The Italian winger has been one of the reasons why Napoli have done so well this season. The 24-year-old is third in the list with assists made in the top European Leagues just behind Mesut Ozil and Riyad Mahrez.

The Napoli attacker could well solve Manchester United’s problem of not having quality outside. Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial could well flourish alongside Insigne who has been incredible this season. United might be tempted not to move for someone who isn’t accustomed to the league but at least, he won’t cost a bomb like Di Maria did.
