Scouting For Wenger: 3 Players That Arsenal Must Sell Including This Fan Favourite In The Summer

Share

Arsenal seem set to challenge for the Premier League title and they need to be in great form to overhaul Leicester City. The Gunners have slipped up in recent weeks and now find themselves five points behind the Foxes.

The Gunners do have some great players to count on such as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez who can push their title ambitions but they do need to get rid of some deadwood that is taking up squad numbers and wages.

Arsene Wenger would probably have to make a few tough calls as he decides to get rid of players who aren’t up to the high standards at Arsenal. With Arsenal now dipping into the transfer market when needed, next summer could be crucial for the Gunners.

We look ahead at three players who must be sold by Arsenal in the summer as they look to finish this season with a Premier League title.

David Ospina

The goalkeeper who was signed with much fanfare a couple of seasons ago hasn’t really lived up to his expectations. The Colombian hasn’t really covered himself in glory in all these years and needs to be replaced quickly.

It isn’t that Ospina isn’t a good goalkeeper; he just isn’t the right one for Arsenal. Especially with Petr Cech taking up the gloves to be number one, Ospina might be better off playing in another league or country where he gets regular playing time rather than sitting on the bench.

Mikel Arteta

The Arsenal captain isn’t the youngest member of the team and with the likes of Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin in the squad, his number of games would really come down to almost zero next season.

Arteta was one of the best midfielders during his time with Everton but every player has a sell by date and this unfortunately seems to be the case for the Spanish star at the moment. Not every Arsenal fan might want to see him go but this is a reality that could happen at the moment for him.

Jack Wilshere

The English midfield hasn’t kicked a ball in anger this season and it doesn’t seem likely he would be playing many minutes for the Gunners this time around. Wilshere might be talented but simply staying in the team isn’t making it good for either Arsenal or Wilshere.

This is a classic Abou Diaby case as the player was let go off recently and for all intents and purposes, Wilshere could be the next one to leave. Arsenal have a number of players who can take up Wilshere’s position and there really is no one who is bigger than the club.
