Two Relegated Premier League Players Who Burnley Should Look To Sign

Burnley managed to maintain their Premier League status for another season after having been tipped as one of the most likely to get relegated at the beginning of the season. The Clarets finished the season at 16th place and were never really involved in the scramble to avoid relegation, with Hull City, Middlesbrough, and Sunderland eventually facing the drop.

Now that they have secured another season of top-flight football, Sean Dyche and his men will need to build on what was a strong season and work on bettering their results in the campaign ahead. In order for that to happen, investment in the squad will be of paramount importance.

They may not be able to spend big like some of the other Premier League clubs, but Burnley will be in a strong financial position this time around thanks to the prize money and the TV rights funds. Here we pick out two players who Burnley can sign from the clubs that got relegated this season:

Harry Maguire (Hull City)

The 24-year old has been one of the best players for the relegated Tigers over the course of the season and as a result, he has attracted interests from several quarters. The centre-back, who can operate on the right-hand side of the defence with equal comfort, is a huge presence at the back and is very comfortable with the ball at his feet.

The chance to play regular football is an attractive proposition for him to consider a move to Burnley. The presence of Michael Keane will also be an important factor as the duo can form a formidable partnership at the back. Even if Keane leaves in the summer, Maguire would be a good replacement for him. So it is a win-win for Burnley.

Adama Traore (Middlesbrough)

The 21-year old former Barcelona academy graduate may not have had the best of the seasons with Middlesbrough, but his talent and potential are well known. Traore finished the campaign with just one assist from 27 league games, but on quite a number of occasions, he displayed that he can prove to be a handful to the opposition defence.

Burnley aren’t the most dynamic outfits in the final third and adding someone like Traore will provide them with something different. His ability to take on and beat his man at pace, his directness in the final third, the way he stretches the opposition or cut inside from the wide areas provide the Clarets with an alternate dimension to their attack. He may not be proven yet, but the quality is definitely there and it is a risk that could earn huge dividends to Burnley should they go ahead with it.
