PSG’s Blaise Matuidi to Chelsea for Blues to push for the EPL Title.

Powerful French Midfielder Blaise Matuidi has been linked to Chelsea by various tabloids fueling rumours that he might be on the way to Stamford Bridge come this January transfer window. The Frenchman is yet to sign a new deal and it is widely reported that Blues Manager Jose Mourinho is ready to swoop for Matuidi, taking advantage of this precarious situation. The longer the contract negotiation drag on with the 26 year old, the more it seems that Matuidi will be on his way to England joining Mourinho and co at Stamford Bridge.

Blaise Matuidi

The 15 times capped Frenchman has already captured the imagination of major clubs all across Europe who have been impressed by powerful displays in the middle of the park. Matuidi was one of the mainstays of the PSG side which won the Ligue 1 last campaign starting in 35 games, scoring five goals and several assists as well. In the Champions League, he also has relative experience filling in 9 games hitting the back of the net twice and providing a single assist. One of the key stats, according to squawka is his ability to pick out key passes and finding them with ease So far this season, he has accumulated 267 passes having 94% accuracy, a testament of his dynamic vision and excellent thinking ability. So will be the right man for Chelsea in the middle of the park with Ramires?

Chelsea no doubt have a plethora of midfielders at their disposal, but they do lack a genuine central midfielder, a mould of the player who could drop deep if needed. With Lampard not getting any younger with time and playing with Ramires, Matuidi will be secured in the middle of the park at the heart of Chelsea’s midfield which is yet to hit full strides in this campaign so far.

The Frenchman also possesses valuable asset with his tackling ability winning more than half of his take downs. Though he is a bit rash when committed and quite poor in aerially, he rarely shies away from the spot. With the triumvirate of Oscar, Hazard and Schurrle behind the lone striker in Mourinho’s preferred 4-2-3-1 system, Matuidi if bought in January would no doubt be a superb addition to the squad.

The best part of Matuidi’s game however is his shot accuracy, which stands to a breathtaking 100%. He shoots on sight, which every good player must do and is a brilliant interceptor playing in the middle. As far as Chelsea’s title aspirations is concerned, they need a midfielder who would provide something different, something extra during tight matches. Matuidi, not in the Makalele mould would still be the tiny ounce of difference come next may. Is Jose listening?
