The transfer window isn’t close to opening but teams are already starting to prepare themselves for an onslaught of deals and negotiations. The work has to be done in advance, which is why so many teams have scouting networks, so that they can seal some really brilliant deals without having to pay a lot of money.
Arsenal have always had a decent youth academy and they might be doing a lot of scouting nowadays. They seem set to build on their impressive end of the last campaign which saw them win the FA Cup for a record 6th time under Arsene Wenger. The Gunners will be looking to start next season with a bang and a bit more of solidity at the back.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for Sevilla’s Grzegorz Krychowiak, the 25-year-old defensive midfielder who had an impressive season last time around and while he was touted to make a move to England in the January transfer window, it seems that he is all set to join Arsenal in their quest to win the Premier League.
Arsenal have a tendency to use small players in midfield but Krychowiak certainly does not fall under that category, his 6 foot frame would work brilliantly to nullify other attackers and he does have a great advantage when it comes to winning headers and aerial duels. The Polish international is one of the best headers of the ball in the Sevilla team and is a great anchorman as well.
Krychowiak isn’t the best passer of the ball, but he can chase down opponents and win the ball, that would be his greatest asset and something that Arsenal would love to have in their team. He can help protect the back four as well, which again is a boost, he doesn’t venture forward all that often but that would be left to the range of talent Arsenal are already blessed with.
He can chip in as a centre-back as well, if that situation does arise, Arsene Wenger does like to mix about the playing positions of the Gunners. Krychowiak would be a great addition to the Arsenal team; he is reliable and has had two great seasons for a Sevilla team that has often punched above their weight in La Liga. He would provide not only cover to the likes of Ramsey, Wilshere or Cazorla when he is played alongside them, but he would give Francis Coquelin some time to rest in between games, in all probability, Krychowiak would end up being the first choice defensive midfielder at Arsenal and that would not be a bad thing at all.
