Arsenal are set to embark on the January transfer window with renewed hope and determination. Despite signing influential stars like Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac over the summer, the Gunners are still 6th in the Premier League table. They have done well on most occasions but slipped up in certain games which has cost them points and as of now, they are behind 5th-placed arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

If Arsene Wenger fails to secure a Champions League spot this time, the fans will become increasingly frustrated after having failed to do so in the previous season as well. There seems to be growing discontent among the fans already and if the Gunners do not secure a top-four finish this season, it will only add fuel to the fire. Hence, to offset their problems, the Gunners need this January window to go according to plan.

Unfortunately for Arsenal though, the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil continue to be shrouded in uncertainty. However, it is what it is and perhaps it is time for the club to let the wantaway stars leave. More than Ozil, Sanchez seems like he has one foot out through the exit door already and with a club like Manchester City interested in him, it is understandable for him to want to leave. While this may come as a major loss to Arsenal, perhaps Wenger should look at it from a business standpoint.

Selling Sanchez to City would bring in quite an amount of money which can be used to procure quality players. For example, Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Julian Draxler and Yannick Carrasco. Both players are splendid attacking talents and could do wonders at the Emirates stadium. Wenger is known to extract the best out of his forwards and both of these players could strengthen their front line in a way that Sanchez cannot.

Furthermore, Wenger is also believed to be considering the sale of Theo Walcott. This may not bode well for most fans but once again, the transfer can be a good move from an economic perspective. Also, the player does not look like he has much of a future at Arsenal and this could be a good move for all parties involved.

For most parts of his career, the French manager has been shrewd enough when it comes to transfer dealings and this could be the ideal opportunity for him to prove it again. Trying to purchase both Carrasco and Draxler could prove to be an expensive affair but that is why it becomes important for Wenger to part ways with Sanchez and Walcott.
