Rowett to make 3 changes – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Derby County XI to face Reading

Predicted Derby County Lineup To Face Reading In The EFL Championship

Derby County go into the game against Reading this weekend in poor recent form following a defeat to Sheffield Wednesday and drawing against a Leeds side that hadn’t won in the League since Boxing Day. Gary Rowett will be looking for more of a reaction against a Reading team who are having a truly terrible season.

Against Leeds, Derby dominated the game but did not take enough from their 24 shots, and conceded sloppy goals for their high standards. Despite this, they managed to come away with a draw, thanks to a last-minute goal from Kasey Palmer. Derby will be hoping to take the feeling of momentum and elation into their game this weekend.

Team News

George Thorne is back in training for the Rams and will be pushing for a recall, while Jamie Hanson and Sam Winnall are both long-term absentees. Jonathan Mitchell should return to the bench after a finger injury. Craig Forsyth and Kasey Palmer are both pushing for starts.

Probable Derby County XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK – Scott Carson

Scott Carson will go looking for another clean sheet after shipping more goals than he would have liked recently. He is at the heart of this Derby County side.

LB – Craig Forsyth

Forsyth will probably earn a recall due to the poor performance of his replacement Marcus Olsson against Leeds. Forsyth is more defensively sound than Olsson.

CB – Curtis Davies

Provided an assist against Leeds and has had an excellent season in the black and white of Derby. He remains the rock on which this team is built.

Tom Huddlestone

CB – Richard Keogh

The captain and man mountain will take up his place with Curtis Davies and lead the team from the front. He is having a very good season.

RB – Andre Wisdom

The cool right-back will come back into the side though Chris Baird has been playing there recently. The player with the younger legs will be needed this weekend.

CM – Tom Huddlestone

The East Midlands born player has had a great season for Derby. His range of passing is better than anyone at the club.

CM – Joe Ledley

The welsh international will probably just about keep his place ahead of George Thorne and although he had a great game against Leeds, he will have to step up to guarantee he holds on to his place in the future.

RM – Andreas Weimann

Weimann has nailed down a starting place in the Rams side and got a brilliant goal late in the first half against Leeds. He will be hard to dislodge.

Tom Lawrence

CAM – Matej Vydra

The top scorer in the Championship will go hunting for goals against a Reading side that like to concede. I am sure the former Watford striker will be rubbing his hands with glee.

LM – Tom Lawrence

The summer signing showed an improved performance, which may partly be down to the pressure being put on him by Kasey Palmer.

ST – Cameron Jerome

The big former Norwich striker should take over from David Nugent, who looks to have lost some form in recent months. The Rams’ striking hopes now rest on Jerome’s shoulders.
