Robson-Kanu and Gayle to start – Strongest 4-4-2 West Brom XI to face Luton Town

Predicted West Brom line-up to face Norwich City in the League Cup

West Bromwich Albion clinched an enthralling victory against Norwich City in the league cup this weekend, with the scoreline ending at 3-4. Darren Moore’s men got their season underway after failing to beat Bolton Wanderers on the opening day.

The Baggies looked a lot more confident against Norwich City, with Jay Rodriguez grabbing a brace before Harvey Barney and Hal Robson-Kanu grabbed one each. Moore will be aiming to hold onto the energy and reflect it on the field once again when they take on Luton Town in the League Cup next.

Nathan Jones’ men haven’t had the best start to their campaign and this would be a good opportunity for West Brom to play their game and gain some confidence. Moore doesn’t have any injury concerns but should rest one or two players in order to keep the squad fresh for the game against Queen Park Rangers next weekend.

Probable West Brom XI

Manager: Darren Moore

Formation: 4-4-2

Boaz Myhill (GK)

The Welshman should be a given start this game, which would provide Johnstone with some rest after brilliantly saving a spot-kick in the previous game. Myhill is a decent goalkeeper with good reflexes.

Allan Nyom (RB)

The former Watford man should start this game as his runs down the flank will be vital for the attackers. Nyom’s crosses into the box will provide the Baggies with a number of chances.

Oluwatosin Adarabioyo (CB)

The young English centre-back should be given a run. He has shown glimpses of great quality and could surprise a few.

Ahmed Hegazi (CB)

The Egyptian proved to be the Baggies’ most reliable man last season. He is fit enough to play a mid-week game and should be partnered alongside Adarabioyo.

Conor Townsend (LB)

Townsend looked impressive after coming on for Kieran Gibbs during the weekend. He should be handed the start at left-back.

Matt Phillips (RM)

Phillips was unfortunate to not get on the scoresheet against Norwich, but he did grab a couple of assists. His raids down the right flank will certainly prove to be a handful for Luton’s defenders.

James Morrison (RCM)

Morrison will provide some stability and cohesion in the middle of the park and should be deployed in his favoured role.

Chris Brunt (LCM)

Brunt has proven to be a utility man for the Baggies over the years. His left-footed deliveries into the box are unrivalled, which is exactly why Moore should start him.

Chris Brunt

Harvey Barnes (LM)

The youngster scored a splendid goal in the previous game and should be handed another start to keep his momentum going.

Dwight Gayle (ST)

Gayle was unfortunate not to get in on the act against Norwich, but the striker was devastating going forward and grabbed an assist. He will be itching to score a goal and should start this game.

Hal Robson-Kanu (ST)

After scoring a brace last time out, Jay Rodriguez should be rested for Hal Robson-Kanu to take his place. He scored after coming on as a substitute in the last game.
