Report: Arsenal To Seal Cabaye Deal Before This Weekend

According to the latest reports, Arsenal are ready to make an improved bid for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye after their first bid got rejected by the Toons yesterday.  It is also reported that Arsenal want to finish the deal as soon as possible (this week) or at least before the 2nd leg of their champions league qualifier game against Fanerbahce.

Cabaye was left out in the squad that got a thrashing from Manchester City in their Premier League opener. This suggest that gunners have already succeeded in unsettling their target. Whole Newcastle United camp seems to be furious about the timing of the bid as they will not have enough time to find a suitable replacement in the market.

Newcastle value Cabaye in the range of £20m. But Arsenal’s first bid was just half the amount.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew openly said,

“I am not sure of exact terms, but it is below our valuation for sure”

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley also responded angrily (Telegraph),

“Which part of him do you want to buy?”.

Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur are the other interested parties who are closely watching Cabaye. But with having £70m to spend this summer, Arsenal are leading the race here to sign the French midfielder who moved to premier league from Lille two years back.

With Cabaye having three years remaining on his contract, Newcastle are expected to hold firm on their stand and will not listen to any offers which are less than their valuation.
