Spanish newspaper Marca have made quite an interesting claim now regarding some Arsenal transfer business on Thursday. Reports from the paper suggest that the Premier League giants have now made an offer to sign former Spanish U-21 international Roberto Jimenez. The 29 year old superstar is a goalie, currently playing for Greek side Olympiacos.
The report further added that manager Arsene Wenger wants to add a third keeper to his squad to complete a trio of keepers with Petr Cech and David Ospina already at the Emirates.
Jimenez was previous with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid player thrice during his career, but was just used as a back-up goalkeeper.
Despite some good spells with various clubs, the Spaniard has not really made a name for himself in Europe’s list of elite goalkeepers, but is now wanted by the French manager’s side.
Marca further added that the Greek outfit have told the north London side to meet the player’s €6m(£4.3m) release clause in order to sign him.
With Wojciech Szczęsny and Emiliano Martínez already out on loan this summer, a deal could expected to be completed soon.
