Rashford And Fellaini To Start – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Manchester United Line-Up To Face Reading

Share

After a comfortable victory over West Ham United at the Olympic Stadium in the first game of the year, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are slowly getting close to a place in the top-4 of the points table in the Premier League. However, the English schedule now moves on to the third round of the FA Cup in which Premier League teams are also introduced. Manchester United are scheduled to play Reading in their first clash in the FA Cup this year as Mourinho will get yet another chance at domestic silverware this season. The Red Devils are the holders of the title going into this season and will hope to go all the way yet again. So Mourinho is expected to go with a strong team for this game and here is the predicted lineup that he might field for this clash at Old Trafford:

Team News:

With Eric Bailly off to the AFCON, Manchester United have just one other absentee for this game as club skipper Wayne Rooney is yet to shake off his thigh injury he picked up in training. He may be fit for this game at the weekend but is not expected to be risked in the starting XI. Ander Herrera is expected to be back in action after getting a few stitches near his eye in the previous game.

Expected Lineup (4-2-3-1):

Sergio Romero:

The second choice shot stopper for Manchester United, Romero has been patiently waiting for his turn on the sidelines and should get his chance on goal in this competition.

Matteo Darmian:

The Italian is far from the first choice for United this season but with the FA Cup giving Mourinho a chance to rest key players, he is expected to start at right back in this game.

Phil Jones:

The English defender is the first choice center back in the absence of Bailly and he should keep his place in the side for this game against Reading.

Marcos Rojo:

The Argentine has been sublime at the heart of the defence for United and Mourinho should go with him for this game to partner Jones at the back.

Luke Shaw:

The English full-back is yet to start for United after coming back from injury and this FA Cup fixture against Reading gives him a chance to get back into the action this year.

Ander Herrera:

The Spaniard has been superb in the midfield for United this season and he should be back in action in this game after getting some stitches for his efforts in the previous outing.

Marouane Fellaini:

The tall, versatile midfielder has slowly fallen down the pecking order at United this season but this FA Cup game is the perfect chance for him to get back into the starting XI.

Jesse Lingard:

The young winger has been decent everytime he is called upon this season and he should get a place in the starting XI for this game against Reading.

Juan Mata:

The Spaniard was on target in the previous game for United coming off the bench and he should start this game in a number 10 role for United and should be at his best to help his side to a victory.

Marcus Rashford:

The English prodigy has fallen slightly out of favour in the last few weeks under Mourinho but he should get a chance to start this FA Cup tie.

Anthony Martial:

The French international was an unused substitute in the previous game and he should be back in the starting XI for this game against Reading.
