Rangers’ shrewd deal for this experienced Championship star would surely help them beat Celtic to the league title

Signing Charlie Adam will help Rangers overcome Celtic in the title race

Charlie Adam is a former Liverpool central midfielder who currently plays for Stoke City in the EFL Championship. He came through the Rangers academy before a flurry of loan spells and finally moved to Blackpool. He played 98 games for the Seasiders and scored 35 goals in the process and even had 22 assists to his name.

A 25-year-old Adam then moved on to bigger things by joining Liverpool. He made 37 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 2 goals and assisting 10, and was at the club for a little more than a season before being sold to Stoke City in August 2012.

Adam has been a Stoke player ever since leaving Liverpool, which means that he has now stacked up a whopping 169 appearances for the Potters and has scored 22 goals, assisting 17.

He even scored a memorable goal against Chelsea from behind the halfway line that has already gone down in Premier League history.

He is a talented midfield playmaker who likes to conduct the play from the middle of the park. While he does help out defensively, he is now 33 years old and doesn’t have the tank that he once did. Even though that might be the case, he would still make a valuable addition to any team looking for a player to control the pace of the game for their team.

Reports from the Daily Mail are suggesting that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is looking to reunite with his former Liverpool teammate. Charlie Adam has also stated that he is keen to move to his home country and represent a club where he would get regular playing time, according to the report.

Rangers are second behind Celtic on the Scottish Premier League table on the virtue of goal difference. They both have 42 points but Celtic have a goal difference advantage of 5.

While this could turn upside down in a single game week, the addition of Adam to this Rangers attack will really put Gerrard’s men in the driving seat.

His excellent spread from the midfield will be priceless to the side from Glasgow as they hunt Celtic down in the chase for the title. His vision and experience will boost the performance levels of players like Alfredo Morelos and Daniel Candeias as the supply from the midfield will be taken up a notch.

With the title race tightening, Rangers are trying to do the best they can to help Gerrard by shelling out money in the transfer market. With Jermaine Defoe already added to their ranks, Charlie Adam could be a key signing for Rangers – possibly the one that could secure the championship.
