Rangers News: St Mirren Chief Tony Fitzpatrick says that Old Firm duo Celtic and Rangers will battle for the goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky. (h/t The Scottish Sun)

Hladky, 28, signed for the Saints earlier this year after agreeing on a year and a half deal.

The Czech shot-stopper has made 19 appearances since then, making quite an impact.

And he drew praise from the Buddies faithful after a top-notch performance against Dundee United, saving three crucial penalties in the shoot-out. He has made a total of 3 clean sheets in the process.

Hladky has represented Czech Republic national team at various age levels and has previously played for his country’s club Zbrojovka Brno.

The Buddies chief said, (h/t The Scottish Sun)

I would think Celtic and Rangers must be looking at him and thinking he could do a job for them.

“He’s a big-game player and such a find for us. He’s been tremendous ever since he came in.

He also added that there were several clubs keeping an eye on the Czech shot-stopper.

“There are teams from Russia and other countries already interested in signing Vaclav and I’m not surprised because he’s top quality.”

Azerbaijan club Quarabag have shown their interest in Hladky recently.

The Light Blues are currently relying on Allan McGregor as their first-choice goalkeeper, who is in the twilight of his career.

With Wes Foderingham as the only viable option, who has also fallen down the pecking order of Steven Gerrard, the Light Blues should make their efforts to bring a quality shot-stopper to Ibrox.

Having said that, Hladky would be a great addition as he has adapted to the  Scottish Premiership in a short span.
