Rangers News: Neil McCann compares Alfredo Morelos with ex-Chelsea star Diego Costa

Rangers News: Neil McCann, the former Light Blues star, has compared Alfredo Morelos with Spanish striker Diego Costa.

Alfredo Morelos

Despite being the star striker for Rangers this season, Morelos has been reprimanded for his behaviour on the field. In fact, he has been sent off on four occasions this season.

Costa, who spent a few years at Chelsea, is also infamous for having an edge to his game besides being a prolific goal scorer.

The Colombian striker has now drawn comparisons with the Atletico Madrid star by McCann. (h/t The Daily Star)

“Costa was a battering ram. He was like a boxer and the same feelings defenders had with him, they get with Morelos because they know they have to deal with the physicality.

“It’s not just about getting across his shoulder or trying to find a yard against him in the box, there’s a physicality to deal with as well.

The former Gers star thinks Morelos is more like a protégé of the Spaniard. (h/t The Daily Star)

“I know Morelos has had loads of issues with red and yellow cards. I see him getting involved in some games and I don’t understand why. There is just something in there that stokes the furnace and gets him firing.”

McCann later praised the Gers striker’s goal-scoring record and hailed him as the best striker in the country.

Morelos is the Premiership’s top scorer and has 24 goals across all competitions this season.

The Colombian star earlier commented on his Ibrox future as he looks to seek an exit this summer.

The 22-year old revealed his ambition to represent his national side in the Copa America this year.
