The 32-year-old finally played for Bethlehem Steels in USL 2017.

Edu commenced his senior career with the American Club Toronto in 2017 where he eventually won the MLS Rookie of the year award.

The midfielder then signed for the Light Blues and went on to make more than 100 appearances, the longest of his entire career.

During his spell at Ibrox, Edu was widely heralded for his performances and his last-minute goal as a super sub against Old Firm rivals was a special one. The cartoon he posted in his Instagram retirement post featured this game.

He then spent his short spells at Stoke City, Bursapor (Turkish club) and Philadelphia Union.

Edu has earned 46 caps for his national side between 2007 and 2014.

The Veteran midfielder took to Twitter to announce his retirement from football officially.

The Gers are currently trailing the table toppers Celtic by 10 points and were knocked out of the Scottish Cup scenario.

Furthermore, Steven Gerrard’s men were inept in the last four games as they haven’t picked up any win since the turn of this month.
