Ramsey, Suarez And City Stars Feature In Top 5 EPL Players Of The Season

With over half the season done, it’s time we looked back at some of the players who have set the stage alight in the Premier League this season (so far).

5. Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)

This has been the season Arsenal fans have been waiting for a long time, not only in terms of league position, but also in terms of the form being displayed the Welshman. Ramsey has scored 8 goals in 18 appearances in the league this season, and is the second highest scorer in his team, which is incredible considering he is a midfielder. He has created 26 chances for his teammates, including 6 assists, and has the third most number of successful passes in the league with a decent passing accuracy of 84%. He hasn’t shirked from his defensive responsibilities, having made 19 interceptions, 3 blocks and 14 clearances.

4. Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)

Sergio Aguero has been in great form this season and has been prolific in front of goal for the citizens despite missing a few games due to injury. His growing understanding with summer arrival Alvaro Negredo will undoubtedly be a worry for opposition defenses. The Argentine has scored 14 goals in 16 appearances, and has also created 25 chances including 5 assists. He also has a healthy passing success of 84%, and is third in the league in terms of shots taken, having attempted 53 shots with an accuracy of 60%.

3. Yaya Toure (Manchester City)

Toure has been the lynchpin for Manchester City around which the creative talents of David Silva and Samir Nasri have thrived. He has performed outstandingly as a box-to-box midfielder and has put in several exemplary performances so far. He has gotten forward to devastating effect so far and already has 11 goals to his name in 21 appearances. He has created 23 chances including 4 assists, and has an incredible 91% passing accuracy, having completed the most passes in the entire league. He has also contributed his fair share defensively with 16 interceptions, 3 blocks and 21 clearances.

2. Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

Hazard has been by far the best player for Chelsea this season, and has been shoulder the responsibility of creating chances as well as finding the net. He has created the most chances in the league with 50, which includes 5 assists, to go with the 9 goals he has scored in 21 appearances. He has a decent passing accuracy of 83%, but that is overshadowed by the fact that he leads the league in terms of take-ons, having completed 76 of them. For an attacking player who spends most of his time in and around the opposition penalty box, he has made his defensive contributions as well with 14 interceptions and 8 clearances.

1. Luis Suarez (Liverpool)

Luis Suarez seems to have come back from his suspension a changed man. His attitude has improved, he looks hungrier than before and he seems to have made it his personal mission to prove his detractors wrong. He has scored an incredible 22 goals in 17 appearances, and is second in the league in terms of chances created with 50 chances created, including 5 assists. He leads the league in terms of shots, having had 50 of his 82 attempts on target, and has the fifth highest successful take-ons in the league. He has at times single-handedly dragged Liverpool to victory, and with him in the side, Liverpool have a chance to return to the Champions League next season.
