Why Rangers’ Ryan Hardie Would Be A Good Signing For QPR

Young Scottish striking talent Ryan Hardie could swap Rangers for Rangers this winter as English Championship side QPR are apparently taking a very keen interest in him.

Queens Park Rangers have enquired about the forward who scored in his single cup appearance for the Light Blues this term but who has not yet netted in his 6 Premiership games this season up to now. In all fairness, Hardie has been given a grand total of 48 minutes in the league and is still highly regarded at Ibrox, so any move away on a permanent basis would come as quite a surprise to many fans.

The 20-year-old has already had loan spells away from Ibrox with both Raith Rovers and St. Mirren to gain experience, something he couldn’t hope for at his parent club under the previous coach, Pedro Caixinha, who favoured the relative experience of Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos. Hardie’s lack of game time has put the Loftus Road club on high alert.

As it turns out, Queens Park Rangers are seeking players to add to their under-23 team in order to build a better “reserve” side to help the first-team and preserve the club’s future prosperity.

It is thought that the West London side were watching when Hardie played well and scored for Scotland under-21’s against Latvia recently and they are fully aware that his deal in Glasgow is due to run out at the end of this season, leaving Rangers with little place to go in terms of negotiating a decent price.

Hardie also represented his country at under-20 level in the famed Toulon Tournament where is country finished third, with Hardie scoring along the way. QPR are not the only ones who have to look after their future. In Glasgow too, the Bears cannot rely solely on foreign imports.

Players who have the interests of the club at heart are in shorter supply than they used to be and should be cherished, while for the player himself, he would do well not to be in such a hurry for more game time.

True, he currently spends a lot of time on the bench in Scotland but in moving to England, he may well be forced into playing in front of sparse crowds for QPR’s reserves and not really helping his football education.

Ultimately then; QPR signing Ryan Hardie would probably prove to be a good move for them but not so much for Rangers or for the player in the long run.
