Predicted Leicester City Line-up To Face Southampton In The Premier League

Leicester City suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Burnley last weekend which virtually ended their hopes of qualifying for the Europa League.

The Foxes have suffered a blip after witnessing two back-to-back defeats and will be itching to bounce back against a struggling Southampton on Thursday.

In the reverse fixture last December, Leicester swept away Southampton 4-1 at the St.Mary’s. This time too, the Foxes will be looking to bag all three points as Claude Puel faces his former club.

Formation: 4-4-2

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

Schmeichel is a reliable presence for the Foxes and he should retain his spot for Thursday’s game.

Danny Simpson (RB)

At right-back, Simpson is a guaranteed starter for Puel’s side against the Saints.

Wes Morgan (CB)

Morgan is one of Leicester’s most solid centre-backs and he will be hoping to keep Southampton at bay.

Harry Maguire (CB)

Partnering the skipper in central defence will be Harry Maguire. The former Hull City man has been in excellent form and will be keen on continuing it.

Ben Chilwell (LB)

Youngster Ben Chilwell has impressed a lot this campaign and is once again expected to start ahead of the experienced Christian Fuchs.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM)

Having served a two-game suspension, Ndidi returns to the team and will walk straight into the starting XI against Southampton. The Nigerian adds steel and energy to Leicester’s midfield and keeps the ability to control the tempo of the game.

Hamza Choudhury (CM)

Choudhury was arguably Leicester’s man of the match in the disappointing defeat at Burnley last weekend. The young gun should retain his spot for the next game.

Riyad Mahrez (RM)

The Algerian has found his form lately and will look to help the Foxes win all three points.

Demarai Gray (LM)

Gray was disappointing last weekend but should start against Southampton. He has shown flashes of brilliance this season and needs to improve his end product.

 

Kelechi Iheanacho (ST)

The former Manchester City academy starlet has failed to live up to the billing at the King Power Stadium. After Shinji Okazaki’s dismal performance against Burnley, Puel might hand Iheanacho a start.

Jamie Vardy (ST)

Spearheading the attack for the Foxes should be star striker Jamie Vardy. He scored last weekend and will always be a threat to any opposition.
