Premier League Rivals Plot Audacious Move For Manchester United Attackers

Share

Reports via Telegraph suggest that West Ham are interested in signing Manchester United forwards Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford on a season long loan.  The London club seem to be cursed with strikers currently and are plotting an ambitious loan bid for Mourinho’s strikers as Slaven Bilic looks to add much needed firepower to his attack.

The fact that neither player regularly features in United’s starting 11 appears to have tempted West Ham to chance their arm. However, Martial has scored only one goal in 10 Premier League appearances so far this term, while Rashford has netted three times in the English top flight. People can easily forget that these are still youngsters – always learning, making mistakes and improving.

Martial, it must be said, has struggled to replicate the blistering menace displayed so regularly last season, but performances against the likes of West Ham and Fenerbahce served as important reminders of what the Frenchman can do.

Rashford, on the other hand, has impressed on a regular basis this season. Those sensational, match-winning moments haven’t occurred as frequently, but the 19-year-old – deployed primary as a winger under Mourinho – has been indefatigable in his approach, always looking to impose himself regardless of circumstances.

With Simone Zaza being a flop for the Hammers and leaving to Valencia in the winter transfer window, West Ham are short on striking options and are also looking at the likes of Chelsea’s Michy Batshuyi, Sassuolo’s Grégoire Defrel and Porto’s Laurent Depoitre are also cited as being on the Hammers’ radar.

The Hammers have been unable to put together a good run of results since their move to the London stadium this season at the start of the campaign, which called an end their long association with Upton Park. They have only recently gained six points in two games after wins over Burnley and Hull City.

West Ham sit in 13th place and really need to reinforce their striking department. And will be looking to finish as high as possible in the season with new signings in the squad during the January transfer market.
