Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal predictions: Tottenham line-up

Two losses on the bounce for Tottenham and their hopes of challenging for the title has slipped away. While the North London side had an outside chance of outdoing both Liverpool and Manchester City to the Premier League title, results over the last few weeks have gone against them.

Despite the return of Harry Kane last weekend, Spurs failed to win against Burnley and proceeded to follow that with a 2-0 loss to Chelsea.

Spurs fell flat against Maurizio Sarri’s men and looked lacklustre, which could prove to be their downfall going into the North London derby against Arsenal over the weekend.

The Gunners are on a three-game winning run in the Premier League and are looking to making it four when they visit Wembley at the weekend.

Things may get even more complicated for Tottenham but if they can play like they have for most of this season, it should be a very interesting clash.

Team News

Both Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen are ruled out due to a hip injury and Tonsillitis respectively, along with Dele Alli. While the midfielder could be back, it’s unlikely that Mauricio Pochettino will take a big risk by playing him.

Probable Tottenham Hotspur XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Hugo Lloris (GK)

The club captain, despite his errors in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, will start this very important game.

Kieran Trippier (RB)

Despite the Englishman’s mistakes against Chelsea in the mid-week fixture, he was one of the better Tottenham players on the field.

Davinson Sanchez (CB)

With Jan Vertonghen ruled out, the 22-year-old should keep his place in the line-up alongside Toby Alderweireld.

Toby Alderweireld (CB)

A mainstay in this Spurs side, Alderweireld has played every Premier League game since the start of December and should continue that trend.

Ben Davies (LB)

While Pochettino opted to rest Danny Rose against Chelsea, Davies has been an able replacement. Like a few others, he should keep his place against Arsenal.

Harry Winks (CM)

The youngster played his 11th consecutive game in the Premier League, against Chelsea, and while he did struggle to make an impact, Winks still remains one of Pochettino’s better midfield options.

Moussa Sissoko (CM)

Having his best season in a Tottenham shirt, Sissoko has been a revelation this season. He should keep his place.

Lucas Moura (RW)

Rested against Chelsea, the Brazilian did eventually walk onto the pitch but it was too little, too late by then.

Christian Eriksen (CAM)

While the Dane has struggled to replicate last season’s form, he is one of Tottenham’s best players on his day and is a sure starter.

Heung-Min Son (LW)

Tottenham’s second highest scorer and the man in form at the moment, the club will be looking towards the South Korean to make an impact against their bitter rivals.

Harry Kane (ST)

If there is one club he loves scoring against, it’s Arsenal and the Englishman has scored 8 goals in 10 appearances against the Gunners.

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
