Burnley were handed a 2-1 defeat by Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United on the final day of the Premier League at the Turf Moor. They finish the season in the 16th place in the league table.
Sam Vokes was on target for the third game running, handing Burnley the lead in the first half, but the Hammers levelled in four minutes time through Sofiane Feghouli. Andre Ayew then made it two for the visitors with a header from just three yards out.
Here is how the Burnley players fared on the day:
Made a great save from Edimilson Fernandes’ shot but the ball fell to Ayew off the post and he headed in. Not called into action a lot apart from that.
Strong in the air, decent while going forward. Made the most number of successful tackles (3) on the day among both teams.
Was put under some pressure by Andre Ayew on a few occasions. Won all his headers though.
Headed just over the bar in the 12th minute. Made a few key interceptions and clearances.
Had the most number of touches among all the Burnley players, but could not produce anything meaningful. Was sound defensively as well.
Played a hand in the lead up to Vokes’ goal in the first period. Not all that good in possession though, as he lost the ball on a few occasions and his passing too was not up to the scratch.
Saw a lot of the ball in the middle of the park and kept things ticking without causing any problems to the Hammers defence.
A brilliant lobbed pass sent Andre Gray through on goal in the first period, but he missed. Booked for a needless foul on Ayew in the 26th minute. Looked the most likely to open up West Ham before being replaced.
Looked to pose a few problems with his deliveries from the left-side.
Burnley’s biggest threat in attack, the big man was hard for the Hammers to deal with his physical presence. Scored the opener from close range.
Missed a great chance in the second minute after being sent through. Set Vokes up for the goal with a low cross. Could not have the desired impact.
Replaced Brady in the 67th minute. Booked.
Came on for Westwood soon after the second goal. Could not influence the game.
Replaced Gray in the 78th minute but couldn’t find the leveller.
