Pochettino To Make 3 Changes – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Tottenham Line-up To Face Southampton

Predicted Tottenham Line-up To Face Southampton In The Premier League

Another epic Boxing day schedule is about to kick off with a smash hit match between Tottenham Hotspur and the stubborn Southampton. Whilst dropping way down to 7th after a tricky run, Spurs are now 5th on the ladder, just one point behind the Reds. Last time out, an inspirational performance by Kane led them to a 3-0 victory against Burnley.

Most importantly, the best part of it was the return of Eriksen and Alli back to form, two members on whom the Lilywhites heavily rely on. The scare of Wembley is not being discussed anymore as they have been unbeaten at home in the last 8 games. Another optimistic stat they could digest is that they have won 8 of their last 10 Boxing Day matches. They have also collected 25 out of a possible 30 points against the Saints since the South coast club returned to the top flight in 2012.

Team News

The game against Burnley and this one are just separated by a period lesser than 72 hours, which clearly implies that changes could be made by Pochettino. Harry Winks missed out on the game against Burnley due to a minor ankle injury, which is alright now. Toby Alderweireld and Victor Wanyama are out on a long-term basis.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Defence

Hugo Lloris will lead the side and hope to lead by example. One of the best in the league, he has to continue the good work on a consistent basis.

Pochettino should continue to play a 4-man defence, with Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen in the middle, who were both unbreakable previously.

At left back, Danny Rose might replace Ben Davies who did all the hard work but couldn’t find a good enough delivery into the box, against Burnley.

Serge Aurier

On the other side, Serge Aurier might start, who is a joy to watch when he bursts and blitzes forward.

Midfield

The big replacement could be in the form of Erik Lamela who could replace Son Heung-Min, as the South Korean has worked continuously and tirelessly as he always does. Lamela needs game time and match fitness after which he could show why he is such a highly reputed player.

Eric Dier should start in his favoured central midfield position alongside Mousa Dembele, who will be looking to get back to his best, at the earliest.

Dele Alli should play behind Harry Kane. The 21-year-old has superb feet and technical ability. He will hope to get his form back and move on to the next year with a bang.

Christian Eriksen should play down the right. He gets into advanced channels, links up well and puts in early crosses. He is a set-piece specialist too.

Attack

Kane is a sure starter who is eyeing yet another record, of scoring the most number of goals in a calendar year, currently held by the legendary Alan Shearer. Thanks to his hat trick against the Clarets, Harry Kane is level with the Newcastle great. If given any space in the box or just outside of it, he can put the game to bed and destroy the opponent. The Englishman has the knack of being at the end of everything possibly happening at Spurs.
