PFA Player Of The Year – Top 5 Nominees Featuring Chelsea And Arsenal Stars

Share

The business end of the season is almost upon us and there are a number of clubs still fighting to consolidate their place in the points table. Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are running away with the title while Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are trailing by a fair bit. Arsenal and Manchester United are fighting with Liverpool for the 4th spot while Everton, West Ham United, Stoke City and Southampton occupy the rest of the places in the top half of the table. There have been some incredible individual performances from players from each of these clubs but who has been the best? Title winners Leicester City saw their Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez get named as the ‘PFA player of the year’ for the 2015/16 season but who is likely to land that title this season? Here are the top 5 nominees for the ‘PFA Player of the Year’ award for the current campaign.

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal):

The Chilean international has been criticized recently for his attitude but his performances have left nothing to desire. Energetic every time he takes the field, Sanchez has 18 goals and 9 assists to his name and is one of the most productive players in front of goal this season. Though his side are currently 6th in the points table, Sanchez has been better than most of the players playing at his position and thoroughly deserves this award.

Alexis Sanchez

Eden Hazard (Chelsea):

The Belgian playmaker, who was recently named the player of the month for March, has been exceptional for Conte’s side. With 11 goals and 4 assists to his name, he has been influential as always for Chelsea and is playing an important role in taking his side to their second title in three years. Surely, he deserves this award as much as the others on this list.

Eden Hazard

Diego Costa (Chelsea):

The former Atletico hitman has been in the form of his life this season, scoring 17 goals already for his side in the league. He also has 5 assists to his name and a couple of his 17 goals have been winners for his team this season. He has been an influential player for Chelsea, coming up with a goal whenever they needed it the most. If Chelsea win the title this season, Costa would have had a major role in their journey. The Spaniard surely deserves this honour.

Diego Costa

Romelu Lukaku (Everton):

The top goal scorer at the moment in the domestic league in England, Lukaku seems to get better game by game this season. He has 21 goals to his name, becoming the first player from the club to reach that mark in the domestic league. He has also provided 6 assists. He is still 23 and is easily one of the best players this season and is a genuine contender for this award.

Romelu Lukaku

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United):

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The Ex-Swedish international is currently Manchester United’s top goalscorer this season with 26 in all competitions with 15 of them having come in the Premier League. Zlatan has been superb in front of goal this season, helping Manchester United to some important victories and points. Though he is currently injured, he has been exceptional in leading the line for the Red Devils and deserves to have a go at this award.
