Predicted Wigan Athletic line-up to face Bristol City in the Championship

After a midweek victory over Hull City, Wigan Athletic next entertain Bristol City at the DW Stadium on Friday.

A 2-1 victory against Hull has lifted the confidence of the Wigan players and they would be sensing the opportunity to pick up all three points again on Friday.

Bristol City, on the other hand, were thrashed 4-2 by West Brom and will be looking to pick themselves up against Paul Cook’s Wigan.

Team news

Gavin Massey has had a surgery on his hamstring and will be sidelined for three to four months. Dan Burns is closing in on a return to the squad.

Probable Wigan XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Paul Cook

Christian Walton (GK)

Wigan’s undisputed No.1 in goal, Walton will look to keep a clean sheet against Bristol on Friday.

Reece James (RB)

James has been getting better and better and is showing a lot of promise at right-back. An attacking-minded player, James is a sure starter for Friday’s clash.

Chey Dunkley (CB)

Dunkley had a solid game against Bristol City and will be looking to continue his rich vein of form for the Latics.

Cedric Kipre (CB)

Kipre looks like a fantastic signing for Wigan and is expected to keep his place at the heart of Wigan’s defence.

Antonee Robinson (LB)

Robinson has had a solid season so far for the Latics and is enjoying his run in the team.

Lee Evans (CM)

He is a class act and should start again. Anyone who has watched Wigan this season will know the importance of his presence in the middle of the park.

Sam Morsy (CM)

Morsy scored a belter in the 2-1 win over Hull. He is such a vital player in the Wigan engine and the skipper will have to come up with the goods to once again guide his team to another three points.

Josh Windass (LW)

A goal against Hull would have done a world of good for Windass. He is a creative player, works hard for the team and can change the course of the game in a blink of an eye. Windass will be looking to add to his tally on Friday.

Nick Powell (CAM)

Wigan’s beating heart, Powell had a quiet game in the midweek and will get a chance to make amends against Bristol.

Michael Jacobs (RW)

Jacobs’ pace and directness could cause problems the Bristol defenders some problems and Cook will urge his star winger to have a go from the first minute.

Will Grigg (ST)
