Derby County

Lampard to make 2 important changes – Strongest 4-3-3 Derby County XI to face Brentford

Predicted Derby County line-up to face Brentford in the Championship

Derby County will prepare to face Brentford at Pride Park this Saturday after being held to a frustrating goalless draw by Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday.

Derby County’s impressive winning run came to an end at Rotherham United last weekend and Frank Lampard failed to get the desired reaction from his team in midweek.

However, Lampard will hope his side gets back to winning ways on Saturday. The Rams face a highly energetic Brentford side, who drew 1-1 with Ipswich Town on Tuesday.

Team News

Curtis Davies and George Evans are making good progress and the duo is getting closer.

Tom Lawrence will be unavailable, with the attacker suspended for the Brentford clash after being sent off at Rotherham United on Saturday. Marcus Olsson remains sidelined with an injury.

Probable Derby XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Frank Lampard

Scott Carson (GK)

Carson is Lampard’s first-choice in goal and that won’t change when Derby face Brentford on Saturday.

Jayden Bogle (RB)

Bogle is fantastic on the ball and always loves to surge forward from the right-back position. He is a definite starter for this game.

Richard Keogh (CB)

Keogh is Derby’s defensive lynchpin. He is a solid centre-back who loves to go toe-to-toe with physically strong strikers.

Fikayo Tomori (CB)

After a shaky start, Tomori appears to have settled down at Pride Park. He has done an excellent job in the absence of the experienced Curtis Davies.

Scott Malone (LB)

Malone must start ahead of Forsyth against Blackburn. Malone offers more dynamism and pace than Forsyth and is defensively reliable too.

Bradley Johnson (CDM)

Johnson could find himself in the holding role at the weekend. He has performed really well lately and deserves another chance to showcase his talent.

Mason Mount (LCM)

Mount offers creativity and guile and is a player who simply cannot be dropped due to his current form.

Craig Bryson (RCM)

Bryson will look to link up from the middle of the park. A player with great work-ethic and endeavour.

Mason Bennett (LW)

With blistering pace and ability on the ball, Bennett can give the Brentford defenders a run for their money. Bennett needs to take the opportunities with both hands in the absence of the suspended Lawrence.

Florian Jozefzoon (RW)

Due to his swiftness and ability to create things out of nothing, Jozefzoon would be a tricky player to handle for Brentford.

Martyn Waghorn (ST)

Waghorn has failed to live up to his hefty price tag, only managing to find the net once in six league appearances. He needs to step up his game.
