Full Time: Stoke City 1-1 Burnley

Getting relegated seems inevitable for Stoke City now after a 1-1 draw against Burnley at the bet365 stadium. A stunning goal from Badou Ndiaye put the Potters ahead but the club failed to prevent the visitors from scoring. Ashley Barnes made it 1-1 after half-time. Although Stoke pushed for another goal, Burnley put up an impressive defensive display to hold them back.

With the prospect of relegation looming stronger than ever, here is how Stoke City players fared in this decisive encounter.

Stoke City Player Ratings

Jack Butland – 8/10

Barring Barnes’ goal, Butland made some important saves and once again, proved to be a force to reckon with between the sticks.

Glen Johnson – 6.5/10

Johnson tackled well and was defensively solid. However, he offered little support going forward.

Ryan Shawcross – 7/10

Shawcross was solid at the back and kept most of Burnley’s attackers at bay. He linked up well with Martins Indi and was one of their best defenders on the day.

Ryan Shawcross

Bruno Martins Indi – 6/10

Compared to Shawcross, Martins Indi was a tad bit underwhelming at times. For the most part, however, he put in a decent display.

Erik Pieters – 5.5/10

A disappointing display from Pieters. He has played well lately but against Burnley, he lacked pace and looked shaky at the back.

Moritz Bauer – 7.5/10

Controlled the tempo of the game quite well and worked hard. He shielded the defence admirably and put in a promising display on the whole.

Joe Allen – 7/10

Allen contributed to the attack and defence with equal gusto. It was a good performance from the midfielder but he faced trouble from his Burnley counterparts on certain occasions.

Badou Ndiaye – 8.5/10

A confident display from Ndiaye, who picked up the opening goal to put Stoke in the driver’s seat. Unfortunately, the goal could not do much as the club walked away with merely one point.

Joe Allen

Xherdan Shaqiri – 7.5/10

Shaqiri was creative in the final third but the Burnley defence was quite strong and he could not do much. Nevertheless, it was a promising performance from the player.

Biram Mame Diouf – 6.5/10

Diouf made some incisive runs and worked hard throughout the game but his efforts did not yield much. He tried hard to get his name on the scoresheet but it all went in vain.

Peter Crouch – 5/10

Even as his teammates pushed hard for a second goal, Crouch failed to do much. He lacked pace and that stunted him from making a stronger impact.

Subs:

Kurt Zouma – 5/10

Zouma made some routine passes to keep things ticking for Stoke.

Stephen Ireland – 6/10

Contributed quite a bit to the attack but nothing came of it.

Tyrese Campbell – 4/10

The youngster came on quite late and he could not do much to make an impact.
