Opinion: Why Arsenal Should Not Sell This Super Speedster To Chelsea To Get Petr Cech

The transfer window is as much about signing new players as it is about ludicrous transfer rumours, the last coming out from the English camps is that Chelsea want to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from their bitter rivals, Arsenal.

The Gunners have wanted to sign Petr Cech as their number one goalkeeper but they have been pegged back by Chelsea who want the Ox as part of the deal. While Arsenal would still be looking to complete a cash deal for the Chelsea goalkeeper, they should not think about selling one of their young stars to a direct rival.

Built like an Ox with a future at Arsenal

Although Oxlade-Chamberlain made only 23 league appearances last season, that number is expected to grow, he still made 37 appearances in all competitions last season and he is only 21-years-old.

The English speedster can play as a winger or as a central midfielder which makes him a versatile player to have in the squad. Arsenal have used him in both positions this season and they would be needing him next season as they try to do better in the league and Europe. The Ox would be a great player to come off the bench or to play right from the start and has a bright future at Arsenal, where he gets regular games.

Moving to Chelsea wouldn’t be the greatest thing for his career, Jose Mourinho might be a great manager but that does not mean that young players always get the starts they want, Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t a world class player yet and he certainly would not start a lot of games for Chelsea. A lot of youngsters have moved away from Chelsea to get regular game time and to continue their growth.

Chelsea might just want to scupper the deal from taking place and this could be a great way of achieving that. Arsenal should not be thinking of selling one of their bright spots that could grow into an incredibly important player for them in the coming seasons to a direct rival. Arsene knows how to help his young players and this bedding in of Alex could be the perfect way for him to turn into a world-class player.

Even the likes of Walcott, Henry and Van Persie were slowly bedded into the team and they became better players through this and this will ensure that Oxlade-Chamberlain does not burn out even before his flame has been lit.
