Dutch striker Vincent Janssen has really struggled to establish himself in England since joining Tottenham Hotspur from AZ Alkmaar two years ago.
The 24-year-old spent a loan spell away from Tottenham with Fenerbahce last season, but suffered a torrid time with injuries in Turkey, scoring just four times. And he is currently suffering from a foot injury but is expected to be back before the turn of the year.
Following his omission from the Champions League squad, Vincent Janssen certainly faces an uphill battle to save his Tottenham career.
As per a report from the Daily Mirror, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to offload some deadwood in January as he aims to strengthen his squad. Janssen is one of the few names Spurs are looking to axe out when the transfer window re-opens.
With Janssen completely out of favour at Spurs, Crystal Palace must take the gamble on him in January.
Crystal Palace have had a shaky start to the new season and are yet to win at home, although they bagged a good point last weekend after holding Arsenal to a 2-2 draw. But on the whole, the Eagles’ performances have not been up to the mark and Roy Hodgson’s side remains in danger of facing the drop this time around.
Clearly, Palace are in need of reinforcements in January if they are to avoid relegation from the top flight. And one area Hodgson must surely bolster is the forward department, with Palace’s attack lacking the thrust and energy this term. To put things into perspective, the Eagles should sign Vincent Janssen from Spurs.
Janssen has become an outcast at Spurs, having not even played once this season after falling out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino. He has been a major flop since coming to England, having managed just six goals in Spurs colours across all competitions.
However, the Dutchman deserves a second chance in the Premier League and Palace should hand him a lifeline to showcase his ability at the Selhurst Park.
Janssen was prolific during his time in Holland, known for his finishing skills, passing abilities pace and clever movement off the ball.
He can hold up the ball very well and bring his teammates into the game. Being a very good passer of the ball, the Netherlands international can set up goal-scoring opportunities for teammates as well.
At 24, Janssen still has a lot of time to revive his career. He could be a real hit at Crystal Palace if he rediscovers his form that made him one of the hottest properties in the Netherlands three years ago.
