Manchester United is all set to sign Monaco’s French International Anthony Martial ahead of the transfer deadline day. The Red Devils are set to pay Martial an initial €60million and then €20million in add-ons which sums up to £58million, as quoted by the French media.
With this, Martial and United creates the record for the highest fee for a French International surpassing Zinedine Zidane’s £46million. With this, Martial is fifth in the list of players with highest transfer fee after Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez and Luis Suarez. But the English media are reporting that his fee is just around £36m.
Martial was linked heavily with the Louis Van Gaal side and this was confirmed courtesy a statement from French Football Federation which said that manager Didier Deschamps has allowed Martial to fly from the National camp to Manchester to seal the deal. Martial scored eight goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances last season.
The statement from the French Football Federation has stated that Anthony Martial asked France coach Didier Deschamps for permission to travel to England to sign a contract with Manchester United. Taking into account the exceptional circumstances, the manager allowed the player this request. Anthony left Clairefontaine on Monday at 12:00 local time. He’ll return (on) Tuesday morning.
