No New Signings? No Problem: 3 Arsenal Youngsters Wenger Can Promote This Year

Share

Arsenal  may have missed out on signing Vardy but the Gunners do have a good youth academy to fill up some slots for the senior team. Arsenal are known for its nurturing of young talent. With excellent training facilities, coaching staff, and scouts, it’s no surprise that the Gunners have remarkable talent emerging from their academy every year. Last season saw the emergence of Alex Iwobi from Arsenal’s Under-21 academy side to the first team. The 19-year-old gave some brilliant performances in the second half of the campaign and rose has above Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Joel Campbell in the pecking order. He scored in his start against Everton and then went on to score another goal against Watford in the following fixture.

Alex Iwobi’s journey to Arsenal’s first-team squad last season should offer hope to the next generation of young Gunners aiming to force their way into Arsene Wenger’s plans for next season. The French manager is known to have a great eye for spotting raw talent and perfecting them to a finished product The list of youngsters he has groomed over the years ranges from the likes of great Patrick Vieira to last season’s surprise package Hector Bellerin. Arsenal have some of the most talented young players in England, who if not shipped to another club on loan to gain some valuable experience are retained to provide cover for the first team players. Here is the list of three players who will push for first team selection next year.

Chris Willock

Wenger has already spoken about giving this 18 year old a chance in the first team. Willock has enormous potential and is one of the most exciting prospects currently in Arsenal’s academy. Chris has the ability to beat defenders with ease with his clever tricks and burst of pace. Capable of playing on either of the wings, the youngster has an excellent understanding of the game and isn’t afraid of weaving his out of tight situation. Though he must be itching to get into the first team, at the same time he must make sure that he stays level headed and doesn’t start relaxing too soon.

Krystian Bielik

The Polish youngster was signed by Arsene Wenger in January this year from Legia Warsaw for a fee reported to be in the region of £2.4million. an extremely talented defensive midfielder Bielik must be encouraged by the progress Francis Coquelin has made since returning from his loan spell. He was supposed to make his debut, however, that got stalled as Coquelin returned from Charlton Athletic. His fast paced development is one of the reasons that Wenger is holding back on splurging on another defensive midfielder.

Dan Crowley

This England under 19 international was sent on loan for the first three months of last season, where Bransley manager spoke very highly of his talent. His playing style is similar to wilshere, combined with outstanding vision and ball control. The attacking midfielder is also a dead ball specialist. Crowley will be hoping that whatever limited chance he got last year, he has done enough to justify his promotion to the first team.
