According to a report in the Chronicle Live, Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Bournemouth’s Jordon Ibe after securing the signature of Allan Saint-Maximin of Nice.
There’s been room for some optimism in recent weeks at St. James’ Park as the Magpies have shown some ambition in the transfer window after many seasons without much funds being spent on the football club.
There’s been a lot of doom and gloom at St. James’ Park ever since Rafael Benitez’s departure to China took place. They also lost Ayoze Perez to Leicester City, however, they did get a decent sum for him.
They couldn’t hold onto Salomon Rondon either. Steve Bruce has since been appointed as permanent manager, which didn’t go down well initially given Bruce’s previous association with city rivals Sunderland.
Losing the three important pieces that the Magpies were identified with would have hurt Newcastle very much but with Sean Longstaff looking likely to stay at Newcastle after being linked with a move to Manchester United all summer, it’s possible that Newcastle could have a good season after all.
Newcastle have had more than respectable finishes in the league in the last two seasons in the Premier League with a 10th and 13th place finish.
Newcastle are a club with a very rich history and have fantastic fan support, having been one of the pioneers of the Premier League in its early years, and Bruce will know all about the job he has at hand.
Ibe is in great need of playing time, having had a fairly miserable time at the Vitality stadium. Ibe showed a lot of promise in his early years at Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers but he’s simply never made the step up and it didn’t help that he suffered a lot of injuries during his stint with the Cherries.

Newcastle have mostly been a very defensive side under Benitez but they have a rich history of great attacking football since the days of Kevin Keegan and they can expect more of the same if they get Jordon Ibe over the line.
They already have Miguel Almiron, Joelinton and Saint-Maximin and if they get Ibe, they’ll have even more firepower to look forward to.
