Newcastle United opinion: Should the Magpies sign Wesley Moraes?

According to a report from the Chronicle Live, Newcastle United are keen to make a move for Club Brugge’s Wesley Moraes in the summer. The Brazilian has revealed that he will leave the Belgian outfit in the summer and has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League.

Newcastle have a ton of problems to worry about before considering transfers. Rafa Benitez’s future is still unclear and unless a conclusion is met on the managerial front, summer signing will only be prolonged.

The biggest issue Newcastle United have to deal with in terms of their squad is with Salomon Rondon. The Venezuelan is up for grabs after his parent club West Brom failed to make it to the Premier League.

Rondon has led the line brilliantly for the Magpies, having scored 11 goals and provided 7 assists in the Premier League this season. His performances have attracted interest from the likes of West Ham and Wolves, and the Magpies could potentially lose out on him if they fail to act quickly.

However, losing Rondon will not be as big a blow as expected. The Venezuelan, despite having an incredible season, is already 29 and investing on him instead of someone younger could turn out to be a financial mistake.

Newcastle should look at someone younger, someone who could either be of service for them for a long time or give them a huge profit when sold. Rondon is neither but Wesley Moraes fits the bill perfectly.

The Brazilian has been one of the best players in the Belgian Pro League this season having scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions this season.

A tall forward who possesses tremendous strength, he would be an ideal fit for the Premier League as well as a brilliant replacement for Rondon.

A fox in the box, most of Wesley’s goals this season have come from inside the box. His positioning inside the box is top notch and he always seems to get himself in the right place at the right time.

Aerially, Wesley is a monster where he uses his 6ft 3in frame to fantastic effect in both boxes.

Conclusion

Wesley Moraes is arguably the most perfect replacement for Salomon Rondon that Newcastle could possibly get this summer.

The Brazilian has all the traits to become a brilliant striker in the coming years and Newcastle is the perfect platform to showcase himself next season.
