Leicester City Player Ratings vs Stoke City

Leicester City continued their great run of form in recent weeks, as they defeated Mark Hughes’ Stoke City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium on Saturday in the Premier League.

Wilfred Ndidi opened the scoring for the home team with a screamer from distance and Jamie Vardy made it 2-0 in the second period, sealing a comfortable victory over a subdued Stoke side who rarely threatened to upset Leicester’s momentum.

It was Leicester’s fifth straight win in all competitions since Craig Shakespeare was appointed as the manager. He has become the first English manager to win his first four Premier League games. The routine win saw the Foxes edge further towards safety, as they find themselves at 13th place in the standings. Here is how the Leicester players performed on the day.

Ratings:

Kasper Schmeichel – 7/10

The Danish international had very little to do between the sticks, but did make an important stop to deny Saido Berahino in the first-half.

Danny Simpson – 7/10

The full-back had a fine game against the Potters. Wasn’t troubled much in the defensive areas and chipped in with two assists as well.

Robert Huth – 7/10

A solid display from the veteran defender against his former side. Resolute and reliable at the back. A near faultless display.

Yohan Benalouane – 7/10

The 30-year old Tunisian started his second game running with Wes Morgan unavailable. Looked at home and comfortable throughout the game. Gave nothing away.

Christian Fuchs – 7/10

Was involved in an interesting battle with Marko Arnautovic but came out on top. Did get booked in the second period.

Riyad Mahrez – 7/10

It was a vintage Mahrez display, especially in the first-half as he bewildered the Stoke defence on quite a few occasions.

Danny Drinkwater – 7/10

The Englishman’s hip injury didn’t seem to affect him one little bit as he continued to do what he does in the middle of the park for the Foxes usually.

Wilfred Ndidi – 8/10

Opened the scoring in the first half with a thunderous shot from close to 40 yards. The 20-year old continues to grow in stature week after week. Seems like Leicester have unearthed another diamond.

Demarai Gray – 8/10

The 20-year-old caused Stoke constant problems on a surprise start, with Marc Albrighton unavailable. Displayed some brilliant pieces of skill when on the ball. An exciting performance from the youngster.

Shinji Okazaki – 7/10

Another fine display from the Japanese forward. His link-up play with the rest of the attacking contingent was spot on and his touches were a class apart.

Jamie Vardy – 7.5/10

Ran the Stoke defence ragged on occasions, and took his goal brilliantly in the second half to put the game to bed. His 5th goal in 6 games for Leicester in all competitions, seems to be getting back to his best.

Substitutes

Daniel Amartey – 6/10

Replaced Okazaki in the 73rd minute with Leicester looking to protect the lead.

Islam Slimani – NA

Came on for Vardy with less than 10 minutes left to play. Not enough time to make an impact.

Came on to replace Gray in the 87th minute.
