No transfer window is complete with out a star player leaving Arsenal. This time it’s Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen who is expected to catch the leaving train from Emirates this Summer.

Early rumors suggested that premier league champions Manchester United are readying a 5 million bid for the Belgian defender. But now Serie A side Napoli enters the transfer race and they are willing to spend up to ten million pounds for Vermaelen. Napoli are now expected to table a bid for the 27-year-old defender in the coming weeks.

It was reported on Wednesday that Thomas Vermaelen wants to leave Arsenal as he fears he would lose his place for Belgium national team (with World cup not that far away).

Vermaelen who joined the club from Ajax in 2009 started only one of Arsenal’s last 10 games of the season.
