Why A Move For This Versatile Brazilian Will Bring Instant Joy At Manchester City

With this upcoming transfer window set to start, several news sites start to wander around with rumours surrounding the biggest teams across the United Kingdom, and now it’s Manchester City’s turn to be under the spotlight.

According to The Sun, Pep Guardiola is keen to improve the left back position, so he’s setting his attention into a former target for the citizens that wind up signing for the Vecchia Signora instead, the 25-year-old Brazilian Alex Sandro, who they bought from Porto in 2014, and they’re reportedly more than willing to pay the 29 million pound fee for the youngsters clause, as his contract expires on 2020.

Also, the citizens are kind of in a hurry to seal this deal, as Alex Sandro is reportedly renegotiating his contract with the Italian side, and his price could substantially go up if they delay this move a bit further. But, would this signing be a good move for Guardiola’s side?

At first sight, you could say it’s very clear why the Spanish boss is keen to improve this position, as most of the guys he has on his team at this spot right now are aging veterans whose primes are way far behind them, so it’s only natural that they look for young blood elsewhere.

Guardiola has given a lot of minutes to most of his fullbacks, with Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta and Aleksandar Kolarov all playing at least 5 game, but the Spaniard is eager to finally find a guy who can be a reliable and consistent starter for the citizens, and Alex Sandro might as well be that guy.

The left back is  one of the most talented guys in that position and he’s shown so since his days in Portugal, where he was scouted by great clubs such as Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid before finally settling for Juventus.

His offensive game is off the charts, as he’s an outstanding passer with great feel for the game, and his ability to create opportunities for his teammates (recording 3 assists so far this season) , as well as finding the open player are something to really take into consideration, given the fact that Manchester City enjoys a possession game with a very offensive style.

Also, Alex Sandro is a very skilled defender, owning an amazing aerial game and a great ability to stop his marker with his tackles and interception, having great timing on both ends of the pitch, and Guardiola would be totally delighted to have a man like that on his team.

On the downside, Alex Sandro has shown some lack of discipline and concentration over the years, but he’s improving that side of his game at Juventus, where he has only earned 3 yellow cards in more than 15 games this season, and you know Pep won’t tolerate some kind of agitated behaviour.

Alex Sandro would be a great signing for Manchester City in a spot where they need some new faces for the future, so we totally expect the citizens to make a move and try to bring the Brazilian to the Etihad Stadium for many years to come.
