Why Middlesbrough should definitely sign Adama Traore on a loan deal

According to BBC, Middlesbrough are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore on a season-long loan deal. The Spanish attacker represented the Riverdale side for two years between 2016 and 2018 but failed to nail down a regular role at the club.

As a result, the 22-year-old was shipped off the Wolverhampton Wanderers who matched the player’s £18million release clause to hand him a five-year deal at the Molineux Stadium.

Middlesbrough made a superb start to life under Tony Pulis this season but they have fallen slightly off the pace in the last few weeks, failing to pick up wins in their last two games. They are currently occupying the final playoff spot and are very much in contention to make the climb at the end of the season.

Boro have also scored just 23 goals in 21 games this season and are the lowest scoring side of the top 18 teams in the league. Those are very absurd numbers given their high position on the table, which is mostly due to their defensive resilience under Pulis.

While the club have conceded the least goals in the league this season, it’s the underlying issue they face at the other end of the pitch that needs a solution. Adama Traore can offer them pace, power, energy and bite in the final third.

Though the 22-year-old lacks the touch and panache of a top player, he is still known to terrorise Premier League defenders with his quick feet and direct running. Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has enjoyed using the Spaniardrd as an effective substitute this season. 11 of his appearances have come off the bench this season and Traore seems to wreak havoc upon some tired legs.

He has scored just 1 goal in that time but as mentioned, it came in a substitute appearance against West Ham United that saw the winger seal three points for his team in stoppage time. Middlesbrough should definitely aim to sign the 22-year-old winger on a season-long loan from the Wanderers. Under Tony Pulis, Traore would receive the regular game time he needs. Boro must definitely go for the player when the transfer window reopens in January.
