Predicted Manchester United line-up to face Club America in pre-season friendly

Jose Mourinho and Manchester United will be preparing to bounce back from their previous season’s woes. The Red Devils endured a frustrating campaign with a lot of ups and downs. The club are currently gearing up for their pre-season tour to the United States. Manchester United will play a total of 5 games during their time in America. The first clash is against Club America, which will take place on the 20th of July.

Here’s how Man United might line up against Club America.

Probable Manchester United XI

Manager: Jose Mourinho

Formation: 4-3-3

Sergio Romero (GK)

The goalkeeper should take David De Gea’s place in goal as the Spanish international represented his country for the World Cup and gets an extended holiday.

Luke Shaw (LB)

Shaw is yet to nail down a starting spot under Jose Mourinho. The left-back made a total of just 19 appearances last season. This could be his last chance to become a regular for the Red Devils.

Eric Bailly (CB)

The defender was impressive for the Red Devils last season. But he endured a stop start campaign, with injuries restricting him from putting together a regular run of games. He will be looking to improve his fitness and play a regular role this time around.

Chris Smalling (CB)

Smalling was not a part of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup plans, which means the defender can start the pre-season clash.

Matteo Darmian (RB)

The Italian is another player who is yet to nail down a starting role in the squad. He his future at the club is in doubt but he should start this game.

Scott McTominay (CDM)

The youngster was impressive for the Red Devils whenever called upon. The absence of Nemanja Matic means that he can take up the defensive midfield role.

Ander Herrera (RCM)

Herrera is another player whose future is in doubt. He was not a part of Spain’s World Cup squad and should start this game.

Andreas Pereira (LCM)

The youngster should get some valuable game time to show Mourinho what he’s capable of. Time to break into the first-team?

Juan Mata (RW)

Mata has not featured regularly for Jose Mourinho’s side but the lack of first-team stars means he could get a start.

Juan Mata

Anthony Martial (ST)

The Frenchman will be aiming for a regular role under the Portuguese manager this year. Martial has been excellent for Manchester United whenever called upon.
