West London rivals Chelsea and QPR played out a goalless draw on Saturday night. After last year’s war of words between Terry and Ferdinand the game was much anticipated for the clash of the players again. While everyone was expecting the hand shake of Terry and Ferdinand, much to the surprise of everyone QPR skipper Park Ji-sung snubbed the handshake of Chelsea’s John Terry.
And Ferdinand refused to acknowledge Terry and Ashley Cole as expected during the pre-match handshake at Loftus Road.
Park, a close friend of Ferdinand’s brother Rio, spent seven years playing alongside him at Manchester United and it is possible his decision was taken out of some sort of loyalty to his former team-mate.
Qpr boss Hughes claims that he expected only Anton to snub the handshake but was surpreised to Park snubbing Terry:
“They had the discussion and I was made aware that some were prepared to shake the opposition’s hand and some weren’t.
“I didn’t know which individuals and I wasn’t going to push the point.
“It was a personal decision for each and every one of them.”
