Everton are undergoing a summer revamp under new manager Marco Silva. To truly complete the process, they must offload a few players this summer. As per reports, Yannick Bolasie has attracted attention from Fenerbahce and a move could be on the horizon. The 29-year-old has had a hard time with injuries since his arrival at Goodison Park but should the Toffees sell him this summer?
Bolasie’s cruciate ligament injury forced him to miss a year of football between December 2016 and 2017. It hampered his progress to a great extent which prevented him from becoming an integral part of the team.
It is understandable for a player like him to take some time before regaining full fitness. However, the player couldn’t feature regularly for the Toffees last season and often looked out of depth.
During his time at Crystal Palace, Bolasie was a fantastic player and was a major threat to the opposition defence. He is a natural athlete who can run forward with the ball and dribble past defenders to create space for a cross or a shot towards the goal.
Everton are currently lacking players who can take on defenders and put in devilish crosses. Furthermore, Silva’s system requires two high-quality wingers who can stretch the opposition defence at every given opportunity.
Everton must retain Bolasie for another season because the Congo international hasn’t had a full season with the club to truly prove his worth. If Silva utilizes him well during the pre-season, Bolasie could unleash his power next season. By doing so, the Premier League will get to experience his talent and wide array of skills.
From Everton’s point of view, it does not make sense to offload Bolasie at this point. They must provide him with a solid pre-season to allow him to get him back to shape and offer regular opportunities in the near future.
The 29-year-old is in dire need of playing frequently to get his rhythm back, and we are all aware of his power when he is in full form. Hence, it will be reasonable for both parties to combine and work together for better results in the coming year.
