Manchester United’s Wazza And Tottenham’s Hurricane: A Dream Partnership For The 3 Lions

Share

From relative obscurity last season to being probably the best English striker in form, the rise of the hurricane (Harry Kane) has been phenomenal, not just in terms of his impact for Tottenham but also his impact in the senior English side. The young Spur now seems to be a sure shot to be a part of Roy Hodgson’s future English teams but just what his role will be in a squad which has a lot of talent in terms of attackers.

England are in a transition phase post the 2014 World Cup and with Rooney leading the country, he is a started in the team, no matter what. Rooney is the heart of England at the moment and his performances for Manchester United do show that he is willing to do it all for club or for country but that is never enough and he does need supporting characters to divide the workload on.

So many strikers but who to partner Rooney?

The conundrum that Hodgson faces is who does Rooney play along with? Saido Berahino seems to be a good bet in the squad but has been rather erratic in terms of his form for West Bromwich Albion, Daniel Sturridge still seems to be a month or two away from being able to play regular football and is still trying to get his sharpness back but even most of these excuses are not needed as we all know who really should partner Wayne for England.

Harry Kane – Tottenham

Harry Kane can do it all for the team, he has shown that he is a willing runner for Tottenham and him and Rooney playing up front would ensure that both players are willing to do the dirty work up front and try to hurry the defence to attack from the front. Both players will run at defences and cause all sorts of problems for the opposition.

It isn’t just the work rate which makes the partnership something to ponder upon; Rooney can play that important pass through to Kane. Kane is known for his movement all around the box and that is an asset for the English team. He and Rooney can striker up a partnership to ensure that they stretch defences to the fullest and try to exploit the gaping holes in the defence.

They both are great finishers as well, that is something that cannot be taught to a player and is purely on instinct, and Daniel Sturridge may be the best finisher than England has right now but he needs a lot of game time to get back to his sharpness and form he showed last season.

The only downside from this partnership would be that both Kane and Rooney are not the fastest players out there, they might have the physical presence to do some damage to the opposition but running is not their strongest point. No matter, this pair can make the difference for England and hopefully, Roy does see this partnership as his best chance of helping England qualify and do better than just the group stages of the Euros.
