Manchester United vs. Swansea: Predicted lineup for United as Rooney leads the line

Share

Manchester United showed the fans what they can really do when the going gets tough. The Red Veils turned the clock back and provided an attacking display against Chelsea a few days ago, but just could not find the back of the net.

The team did hit the post twice in the first half and had to deal with Thibaut Courtois, who was in excellent form and kept them from scoring. Manchester United still didn’t get the victory that was needed to take some pressure off manager Louis van Gaal but the fans should be happy with the performance of the team.

United will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Swansea City, who are under a caretaker manager. The Red Devils don’t really have too many injury worries and the following XI could well be the one that faces the Swans on Saturday.

David de Gea

David de Gea was in Matrix mode as he kept Chelsea out with a few fantastic saves and no one can replace him at United at the moment.

Ashley Young

With Antonio Valencia still recovering from injury, it could mean more game time for Ashley Young which can only be a good thing for the Englishman.

Chris Smalling

One of the best defenders in the league, Smalling would have to deal with Bafetimbi Gomis and that would be a battle to keep an eye out for.

Daley Blind

Daley Blind might not be a central defender, but he will be played in this role by Van Gaal and well, he should start for United against Swansea.

Matteo Darmian

The Italian coming back into the team would only mean good news for United fans and hopefully he can last the entire game against Swansea this time around.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Schneiderlin was one of the better players against Chelsea and should keep his place in the team and hopefully put in another commanding performance.

Bastian Schweinsteiger

Bastian might not be playing with the levels he achieved by Munich a few years ago, but hopefully he can turn the clock back and put in a great performance for Manchester United against the Swans.

Memphis Depay

Juan Mata might have hit the crossbar early on but it could be Depay who gets a start and a chance to trouble the Swansea defense.

Ander Herrera

The Spaniard finally got a real chance to perform for Van Gaal and although he didn’t get onto the score sheet, he should keep his place in the starting XI.

Anthony Martial

The French striker hasn’t continued his amazing form at the start of the season, but he did show some glimpses of his brilliance against Chelsea and could be the best bet for United to score.

Wayne Rooney

The England and United captain might not have troubled the score keepers, but he must start if United are to get the three points against Swansea.
