Manchester United Transfers – Why Spending £90m In The January Transfer Window Is A Bad Move By van Gaal

Share

One thing can be guaranteed, if Louis Van Gaal does take Manchester United back into the UEFA Champions League, he will be given a huge transfer kitty to make the team better. Van Gaal seems to have the backing of the owners and he was allowed to spend a lot this season and could spend a bit more in the January transfer window.

One rumour which does not persist to go is the Gareth Bale back to England, in fact there are strong rumours that he will come to Manchester United but United would have to pay over the odds (£90m) to sign him from Real Madrid. Bale has done pretty well during his time at Real Madrid and they would be looking to get back as much of their investment as possible.

Spending a ton of money to bring in an attacker may help United in the attacking third but it certainly is not the thing that Manchester United need right now.

Bigger issues to deal with

The United team is woefully unbalanced with a top heavy team, the goals are flowing and the wins are coming but their defence and midfield is a huge worry. Their needs to a complete overhaul of the defence, the likes of Rafael, Evans, Smalling and Jones all need to be shipped out and replaced as soon as possible, they look nothing like a great Manchester United defence should be like and the team have not been able to replace the experience of the likes of Ferdinand, Evra and Vidic.

That is not the only problem that Manchester United face, their midfield hasn’t been doing any better, they actually have no proper central midfielders who can do well in the defensive aspect of the game, Daley Blind plays better when he is playing in the back 4 and Ander Herrera hasn’t done all that brilliantly even though he made a big money move from Spain.

Fellaini has actually been the best player in terms of playing in the midfield but his future at the club also isn’t clear and he could end up leaving United rather than staying. The biggest issue is the lack of experience in the midfield and defence, especially right in the middle of the two places.

Louis Van Gaal needs to understand what his team really needs, spending a bomb on one luxury player might be a target for Real Madrid but they always have had a brilliant team, which only needed an upgrade or two. Manchester United are not at the level of Madrid at the moment, maybe they could reach that stage in a few years but right now there are bigger problems the team needs to address rather than buying a flash signing.
