Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has reportedly attracted interest from Chelsea. Darmian is yet to feature in the Premier League for United this season under Jose Mourinho as the latter prefers Antonio Valencia as the right-back. According to reports from Calciomercato, Chelsea are one of the clubs monitoring Darmian’s situation, the other clubs being Juventus and Napoli.
The Italian has been capped 28 times by United after Louis van Gaal bought him at the start of last season’s transfer window.
In other news, AS Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has blamed Manchester United and Chelsea for Radamel Falcao’s miserable performance. According to Vasilyev both the clubs did not give the player enough time to recover from his injuries and then failed to re-launch him.
“Both clubs in England failed to relaunch him,” claimed Vasilyev. “I don’t know whether Manchester United and Chelsea did not have the patience or the desire to do that but I am quite sure this year we will see Falcao at his previous best.
“He is the same Falcao as he ever. We’ve seen that in pre-season. He scores goals, he’s there and he is motivated, we are motivated and I think this will be his year.
Finally, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has come to United midfielder Paul Pogba’s rescue after the latter received criticism for his performance during the Manchester Derby and recently against Watford. The French midfielder did not manage to perform his best during the Derby against pep Guardiola’s side and fellow teammate Ibrahimovic is adamant that the criticism was fueled by jealousy.
“All the jealous people who talk about him will swallow all of the words they have said about him,” Ibrahimovic told SFR Sport.
“He will only improve and will get everyone behind him. My relationship with Paul is easy: I speak, he listens. Paul is a player with a lot of talent.”
