Manchester United winger Angel di Maria is still in Argentina, according to claims by French football expert Julien Laurens. The Argentine winger has not left the country and is still awaiting a deal between the Red Devils and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain to happen, according talkSPORT.
Laurens stated that the former Real Madrid star is still not fully fit and is recovering from his injury in the Copa America final and will remain in his homeland until talks are completed. The United’s No.7 was on the verge of moving to Paris, after a disappointing debut campaign in England.
“He is still in Argentina,” said Laurens.
“I don’t know if he keeps missing flights so he doesn’t have to join up with the United squad, but he’s still in Argentina – he’s nursing the injury picked up in the Copa America final.
“He’s waiting for the deal to be agreed between both clubs and then he’ll fly over to Paris to pass a medical and sign his contract – I think he will stay in Argentina until the deal is announced.
“PSG have been optimistic for the last month and a half but it seems it’s getting closer and closer now, especially between his agent Jorge Mendes and the club.”
Despite a really positive start to his career at Old Trafford, the versatile midfield superstar failed to replicate some of his best form and was dropped by Dutch manager Louis van Gaal eventually as the season went on.
However, PSG boss Laurent Blanc considers the 27-year old winger as the perfect addition for his current squad and will look to complete the signing as soon as possible.
