Manchester United Player Ratings vs Sunderland – Giggs Is Not The Solution

Share

Manchester United’s season hit another low yesterday when they lost their match to Sunderland at Old Trafford, via a Sebastian Larsson strike. This was Ryan Giggs’ second match in charge of United and luck did not favour him like the previous match against Norwich. But this was a massive win for Sunderland and now they are in a position to avoid relegation. Now the manager would try and do his best in the remaining two matches against Hull City and Southampton. But, they need a more experienced manager to comeback strongly next season.

Let us take a look at the United player’s ratings from yesterday’s match.

Manchester United Player Ratings vs Sunderland

David De Gea- With United dominating the match, De Gea did not have to make too many saves. Was beaten from the Larsson strike.

Ratings- 5/10

Patrice Evra- His age has taken a toll on him and his pace has reduced greatly. Was not sharp with his crosses and did not drop back soon to defend.

Ratings- 5.5/10

Phil Jones- Was decent in defence dealing with the Sunderland forwards. But was poor in his attacking instincts.

Ratings- 6.5/10

Rio Fredinand- Is approaching the end of his United career and failed to stop the strike from Larsson. Has lost his flair and his touch.

Ratings- 5/10

Michael Carrick- Could not stop the cross that allowed the goal and could not man the midfield with authority. Was poor in his distribution and could not provide any direction in his attacks.

Ratings- 4.5/10

Nani– He epitomised the poor day in office for United. Could not provide any direction into his game and even after changing wings could not do the needful

Ratings- 4/10

Ashley Young- Could not provide any good crosses that would create any chances that could prove a threat. His marker got the better of him and he did not let him dominate in the midfield.

Ratings- 5/10

Darren Fletcher- The trustworthy United man was a poor shadow of himself. He was working hard but could not do anything worth mentioning. Average game for  him.

Ratings- 5.5/10

Juan Mata- Mata did well among his other teammates who were pathetic but that was clearly not enough. He tried to unlock the Sunderland defence regularly but his passing was not always up to the mark.

Ratings- 7/10

Javier Hernandez- The striker did decently but it was far from a perfect show. Was good in patches, but needs to improve if he has to make a more permanent mark or prolong his United career.

Ratings- 6/10

Adnan Januzaj- The youngster came off the bench to try and make difference. He displayed good pace and make some direct runs, but again lacked in his wingplay which would bother the manager.

Ratings- 6.5/10

Danny Welbeck- Showed the intent and was eager to run into spaces and try to utilise the gapes. But could not capitalise due to lack of support and ended up with no results to show.

Ratings- 6/10

Robin Van Persie- There were high hopes pitted on him by the United supporter, but he could not justify the faith shown on him. Made little impact.

Ratings- 5/10
