Manchester United Player Ratings Against QPR – De Gea And Fellaini Rescue United

Share

A sub-par Manchester United scrambled past Queens Park Rangers, thanks to goals from substitutes Marouane Fellaini and James Wilson. David De Gea was once again the star of the show as a shaky United backline managed to keep a clean sheet, sealing only their third away win of the campaign.

Let’s take a look at how the United players on their trip to Loftus Road.

David De Gea – 9

Denied in-form Charlie Austin twice in the first half before denying Isla from a tight angle in the dying seconds. Arguably the safest pair of hands in the Premier League.

Phil Jones – 7

Had little to do as United gradually grew into the game and imposed their game on the home side.

Jonny Evans – 7

Looked steady and alert to the danger. Did a solid job keeping the screws on Zamora and Austin.

Marcos Rojo – 7

Went shoulder to shoulder with Bobby Zamora and really looked like he was up to the challenge.

Daley Blind – 7

Quiet day at work for the Dutchman for most parts, except the occasional forays down the left flank.

Michael Carrick – 7.5

Kept things ticking nicely, but Harry had a plan for him. Passing range looked limited on the night, partly due to the small pitch.

Antonio Valencia – 7

Valencia’s no-nonsense, unfussy approach must impress Van Gaal. Another whole-hearted effort from the Ecuadorian last night.

Juan Mata – 5

Not one of his best days in a United shirt. Frustrating afternoon summed up by a yellow card and an early substitution.

Wayne Rooney – 7

Wayne Rooney can’t possibly be of much help on the left wing or as a central midfielder. van Gaal must use his captain further up-front to get the best out of him.

Angel Di Maria – 7

Frustrating display as the Argentine failed to hold the ball up in advanced positions. Not really linked up with his attacking colleagues.

Radamel Falcao – 5.5

The Colombian Could have had a hattrick. Ended up with nothing. Wasteful is an understatement.

Subs:

Marouane Fellaini – 8

Neat with his passing and allowed United to assume control of the midfield. Scored a good goal to show for his troubles.

James Wilson – 7.5

Played in Falcao on a couple of occasions before scoring a superb solo goal himself to seal the points.

Ander Herrera – NA
