A rejuvenated Manchester United performance against Crystal Palace ensured David Moyes’ men would win 2-0 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the late night kick off match on Saturday. Wayne Rooney, fresh from his new contract agreement earlier this week scored an emphatic volley after Robin Van Persie’s penalty in the second half gave the Red Devils the lead. As a courtesy of the victory, in a match where Moyes got his selection almost perfect, United are now sixth in the table while the Eagles remain fifteenth. Here are Manchester United’s player ratings from the clash.

David De Gea: Made a couple of good saves, specially from Cameron Jerome to protect his team’s lead at 1-0, and was rock solid under the sticks. The Spaniard  rightly picked up a valuable and confidence oozing clean sheet.

Patrice Evra: The French left back won the penalty for United, from which Van Persie easily converted. Evra was good throughout the entire course of ninety minutes with his attacking runs and assisted Rooney’s emphatic volley which sealed the win.

Chris Smalling: An average performance from the Englishman, but that’s expected playing out of position in place of Rafael in right back.

Rio Ferdinand: He reads the game brilliantly which more than makes up for the lack of pace, did well in helping his defense keeping a clean sheet. Nothing worthwhile mentioning.

Nemanja Vidic: Picked up a silly booking in what was a match which was relatively poor by his standards. However, will have better games than this, but did well in coping with what Palace threw at United.

Marounne Fellaini: The Long haired Belgian played after a long time and his performance was a decent one. He missed one great chance during the game.

Micheal Carrick: Comfortably protected his back four and was always in confident mood whenever he was on the ball. Superb physical presence with an array of passing range.

Juan Mata: Started out wide but as he drafted into a more central role, looked very comfortable and was his usual old self. Always a growing threat to Palace’s defence.

Adnan Januzaj: Despite a good first half, did find it very hard in the second forty five, offering almost nothing in the later stages. Not a great game, given he misplaced a lot of passes and gave away balls far too much to his liking.

Robin Van Persie: Opened the scoring with a well taken penalty and the budding understanding with Rooney and Mata will be very encouraging.

Wayne Rooney: Sheer class from the Englishman. The name is enough maybe he is worth the £300k per week after all!
