Manchester United Need To Sign This £60,000-a-week Striker – Agreed?

Share

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has caught the attention of some top teams, Manchester United inclusive, with his performance and so many speculations surrounding his future at White Hart Lane. The of him swapping the shirt of the Lily White for another club in the summer is high.

The England striker has been entangled in contract negotiations with the North London Club and he is demanding for a wage that commensurate his growing status as an elite striker.

However, the reports coming from the media has suggested that Tottenham are not ready to give in to his wage demand and contract talks have been stalled. The club may decide to cash in on him ending the relationship between the two.

Liverpool are the bookies favourites at 6/5 to sign the 23-year-old if he chooses to leave White Hart Lane. Premier League rivals Arsenal and Man United are also vying for his signature. He may also follow the footsteps of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric and join Real Madrid who are also reported to be interested.

Manchester United are also interested in his services but have a slim chance of landing him. His wage demand might not really be the problem but the current situation of the club. United has a limited chance of progressing in the Europa League this season and Champions League spot is not all guaranteed next season. With Spurs participating in the Champions League this season, moving to a club devoid of that may seems like a demotion.

One of the key areas where Man United need immediate improvement is goal scoring. United attack is in serious disarray after drawing their third consecutive home game. They have drawn stoke City, Burnley and Arsenal despite dominating those matches and have 74 shots. They have now failed to score in the first half in 7 of their last 9 games in all competitions.  It is a clear sign that there is a problem in the final third.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has found the Premier League too competitive for his age. He is 35 and has not been at his best form of recent; he missed many chances against Burnley and didn’t start the Arsenal game. Wayne Rooney is no longer a threat to the opposition and has fallen out of favour, Marcus Rashford has not been consistent and it clearly showed in the game against Arsenal as he struggled to find a breakthrough in the Gunners defence.

Harry Kane would be a perfect fit for United attack who has failed to find the back of the net consistently. He has been instrumental to Tottenham attack. He won the Golden Boot last season and helped them to return to the Champions League. This season he has scored five goals in seven Premier League appearances, including his double against West Ham United on Saturday. He is a versatile striker and still has more years ahead of him.
