Manchester United Latest: Moyes Set To Meet Rooney And Spurs Could Snatch Craotian Youngster Halilovic

So David Moyes has formally taken charge of the Manchester United squad ending an era that will be remembered in the football history, for the times to come. But Moyes do not have the time to delve into tradition right now and will have his plate full with lots of areas requiring urgent attention.

One such problem which needs to be sorted out soon is the issue of Wayne Rooney as the clout of uncertainties looms over the future of the England striker. Rooney had wanted to leave the club in the summer as mentioned by Sir Alex Ferguson and he had provided the club with transfer requests in this regard. Sir Alex was quick to add that the club is in no mood to let go of their star striker and he would urge the player to commit his future to the club. But no breakthrough has been reached yet with reported bids for the player from Arsenal and Chelsea. Even recent Barcelona purchase Neymar has mentioned that it would be an honor for him to play alongside Rooney at the Nou Camp and it is believed that the Catalan club has made an offer of £25m for Rooney.

But speculations apart, reports suggest that David Moyes is determined to change the scenario and it is believed that Moyes will sit down face-to-face with the striker and possibly try to reach an end point to solve the crisis. It would be a great opportunity for Moyes to prove his worth to the fans immediately and at the same time prevent the team from losing a very vital member. Moyes will not leave matters for very late and we can expect that he will solve issues with the player, who once played under him at Everton, very soon.

Right after taking charge of the United team, Moyes is rearranging the backroom staffs of the club. Three staffs, namely Steve Round as assistant manager, Chris Woods as goalkeeping coach and Jimmy Lumsden as coach have joined the club at the insistence of Moyes. All three of them have been trusted lieutenants of Moyes for a long period of time at Everton and are thus very well accustomed to the playing style of the Scot.

Quoted by the Sky Sports, Moyes told United’s official website about his backroom staff:

“They bring great qualities in their respective fields and I know that, like me, they feel that this is a challenge to relish. I have great faith that together, we can build upon the success this club has enjoyed over many years.”

In other news, the Daily Mail reports that Tottenham could snatch Manchester United and Real Madrid target Alen Halilovic. The 17-year-old midfielder, who has been hailed as ‘the new Luka Modric’  or even the ‘next Messi’, is one the verge of singing for the London outfit as a part of an £18m double deal which will see Halilovic staying on loan at Zagreb and Tin Jedvaj moving the other way.

Dinamo Zagreb’s Executive chairman Dravko Mamic, talking to the Croatian press, said:

‘The deal with Tottenham is still under negotiation, nothing has yet been done. We hope that the transfers of Halilovic and Jedvaj can be completed in the best way possible, but the transfer is not yet complete.”
